Casing Twister driven by machine rotary table

On a Soilmec SR-45 (including the ADV and Blue Tech versions), the casing drive adapter (or casing driver) is the critical interface that transfers the rig's rotational torque and downward crowd force directly into the casing string.

Because the SR-45 is a highly versatile, mid-sized rig with a maximum torque of 185 kNm, its casing adapters are engineered to optimize this power without overloading the mast geometry.

Mounting Options for the SR-45

Depending on your specific drilling setup and depth requirements, there are two primary configurations for a casing drive adapter on this rig:

1. Direct Flange-Mounted Casing Driver (Rotary Mounted)

How it works: This adapter bolts directly to the underside flange of the SR-45’s rotary table.

Advantages: It provides the most efficient transfer of the rig’s full 185 kNm torque and its high crowd/extraction forces (whether using the Cylinder Crowd System [CCS] or Winch Crowd System [WCS]).

Best for: Standard cased boreholes where the maximum casing length stays within the mast's clear clearance (typically up to 15 meters depending on configuration).

2. Kelly Bar-Driven Adapter (Casing Twister / Spinner)

How it works: This adapter features a female Kelly box (typically matching standard Soilmec sizes like $130 \times 130\text{ mm}$ or $200 \times 200\text{ mm}$) that slides onto the terminal joint of the Kelly bar.

Advantages: Allows you to drive casing deeper into the borehole than the stroke of the rotary table allows, and makes it easier to quickly switch between drilling tools and casing operations.

Best for: Projects requiring temporary casing placement through unstable upper layers before drilling deeper with a friction or locking Kelly bar.

Key Technical Specifications & Compatibility

Diameter Range: While the SR-45 can handle tools up to 1500 mm below the mast, standard cased applications along the mast usually range from 600 mm to 1200 mm / 1300 mm outer diameter (OD). The adapter must match the exact OD of your casing string.

Casing Joint Connection: The bottom of the adapter is outfitted with standard female/male conical casing joints and pin slots (compatible with Soilmec or Bauer-style bolt connections) to lock seamlessly into the top double-wall or single-wall casing section.

Construction: High-tensile forged steel with reinforced "U" blocks or welded ribs to withstand intense torsional fatigue during casing installation and extraction in dense gravels or stiff silts.

Q: Is the forklift industry ushering in a "super cycle"?

A: The industry data just released is too explosive! In October 2025, forklift sales 114,300 units, domestic and foreign sales soared by double digits (domestic sales + 16.2%, export sales + 15.4%), and the cumulative sales from January to October exceeded 1.22 million units, surging 14.2% year-on-year! On the one hand, JD.com spent 100 billion to purchase 3 million logistics robots, and on the other hand, hydrogen forklifts single order surged 108 units. The forklift industry is experiencing a "green + intelligent" dual revolution. These changes!

Q: How does a smart forklift work?

A: Have you seen how a smart forklift works? Recently, CCTV news came to Hefei and walked into the intelligent workshop of Anhui Forklift Group. Let's follow the camera. This 67-year-old enterprise is on a path of transforming and upgrading traditional industries and developing new quality productivity. Now I have come to the debugging and testing area of the mobile robot. More than a dozen cars behind me are conducting sensor calibration and basic function testing here. I am now standing on its forward path. In the eyes of the robot, I am an obstacle, and it will automatically stop.

Q: Smart Forklift "Create a new model of safety supervision?

A: According to the staff of Xinhe Food, the system integrates a number of intelligent management functions, and builds a comprehensive protection system through comprehensive digital control of personnel, vehicles and behaviors. The personnel management module realizes the digitization of the driver's account and real-time early warning; the vehicle positioning function ensures the safe operation of the forklift in the electronic fence; the operation early warning actively reminds to fasten the seat belt; the identification mechanism strictly restricts only the filing personnel to operate the vehicle, fundamentally eliminating unlicensed driving. At the same time, the system also has data analytics capabilities to provide reliable data support for vehicle scheduling and performance mangement.
