combines the advantages of a number of good hammer grabs and, due to its
of top class.
These are essential advantages:
The grab has no wear-prone cable pulleys.
The closing force is produced by a scissor system which is insensitive to wear and dirt
There is no closing cable subject to frequent replacement inside the grab.
Opening of the jaws is assisted by a pretensioned spring, so that adhesive
Soils are dumped by forcefully striking open the jaw
The body of the grab is streamlined, which ensures a high fall velocity under water
Additional side pockets on the grab's lower part increase the filing capacity of jaws in soft soil
The entire construction is stress relieved and extremely strong.
Hammer grab the double rope operation as well as single rope operation are quick ,reliable and highly economical

Choosing a hammer grab (also known as a spherical or mechanical piling grab) depends heavily on the geology of your site, the required depth, and the auxiliary equipment you are using.

While rotary drilling rigs with augers or buckets are faster in stable, soft-to-medium soils, a hammer grab becomes the tool of choice under the following specific conditions:

1. Challenging Geological Conditions

A hammer grab relies on gravity and impact force combined with high-strength mechanical jaws. You should choose it when encountering:

Boulders and Large Cobbles: Standard drilling buckets get jammed or blocked by large obstructions. A hammer grab can be dropped to crack or reposition boulders, then clamp and hoist them out.

Gravel and Pebble Layers: In loose, coarse gravelly soils where augers fail to retain the material, the interlocking teeth of a hammer grab securely trap the debris.

Weathered Rock Strata: When the rock is too hard for a standard soil bucket but highly fractured, the high-impact drop of a heavy hammer grab can break up the layers without requiring a costly core barrel.

2. Extreme Depth Requirements

Rotary drilling rigs are mechanically limited by the length of their telescoping Kelly bars (typically capping out around 60 to 90 meters).

Choose a hammer grab when your bored piles must exceed these depths. Because it operates via steel wire ropes from a crawler crane or duty-cycle crane, its depth capability is virtually unlimited, often reaching 100+ meters.

3. Pairing with Casing Oscillators or Rotators

If the project requires full-length temporary steel casings to prevent borehole collapse (especially in high groundwater tables or shifting sands):

A hammer grab is the industry-standard tool to excavate inside a casing oscillator or casing rotator.

As the oscillator drives the heavy casing down, the hammer grab efficiently clears the soil column from within the casing diameter without applying rotational torque to the rig.

4. Limited Rig Torque or Low-Headroom Conditions

If the available piling rig lacks the high torque required to twist a large-diameter core barrel or auger through tough ground, a hammer grab shifts the mechanical demand from rotational torque to vertical hoisting power.
